macports build issues
« on: December 22, 2011, 09:44:09 pm »

While trying to install the fife macport, the installation script calls a command that is deprecated and no longer avialeble  called python_select. I was wondering if anyone found a work around or how to fix this.

Here is the output of the error:
Error: Target org.macports.build returned: couldn't execute "/opt/local/bin/python_select": no such file or directory

Hi bionsuba,

Sorry for such a slow response.   The macport is quite a bit outdated now.  Whoever was maintaining it has stopped doing so.  I would suggest building it yourself.  We have some tutorials on the Wiki on how to do that.  Check it out:  http://wiki.fifengine.net/Building:Mac:Scons.  If you need more help feel free to ask here in the forum or in our IRC channel (#fife on freenode.net).

Forgot to tell you where to download the source code.  Source code can be found for our latest stable release on sourceforbe here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/fife/?source=directory  or you can grab the latest development code from our SVN repo.  The instructions on how to do that are here: http://wiki.fifengine.net/Subversion_repository
