Releasing commercial games
« on: November 13, 2009, 02:44:19 pm »

Can you release commercial games in this engine without releasing their source code publicly? I've been looking round the FIFE info, but things seem contradictory.

Hope you can clear this up for me,

Barra may be a better candidate to explain this, but I will give it a try.

We changed the license for FIFE so that it is now released under LGPL, as it was previously released under GPL. As I understand with LGPL game developers can release commercial closed source projects. The only stipulation is that any changes you make to the FIFE engine code itself must be released as open source, but the game client code can stay closed source.
