Can´t Open .py File
« on: June 28, 2009, 04:52:54 pm »

Hi,

I´m running vista x64 in portuguese, and I can´t run FIFE. When I try to open any .py file, the prompt screen flashes, and immediately disappears. I downloaded python 3.1, and I tried to open a .py file via IDLE. I can open the file, but when I try to "run", it finds a sytax error on a:" (always on a ", after the command print "..."). I downloaded FIFE_2008.1.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

I just "fixed" the print "..." command to print ("..."). No syntax error like before, but I get the following error message:

Did you download any stable FIFE release or built it from SVN? In case of SVN: you will need to build via MSVC 2005 or 2008 as mingw is not working in combination with Vista 64 yet. At least not the normal 32bit mingw version that ships with the FIFE compile SDK.

You are using python v3.1, while FIFE only supports v2.5 and v2.6. FIFE 2008.1 is a little outdated anyway, so I would suggest you use our SVN version.

See:

http://wiki.fifengine.net/Subversion_repository (if you want the newest version)

Wow, sounds like we won't switch to Python 3.1 that fast...
