Game creators corner / Economics (working title)
« on: December 28, 2013, 10:22:33 am »
Hi guys,
I've decided to show you progress in my project. It's based on FIFE engine and CEGUI.

Economics will be a business simulation game where player's goal is to create the most profitable business in the world while competing in several different markets against a number of different corporations run by AI. The player creates and controls a business empire while preventing the business from going bankrupt or being taken over by a competitor. There will be several ways to achieve this:

  • Retail - run a chain of department stores.
  • Manufacturing - buy raw resources, create production chains and sell end product.
  • R&D - research and develop cutting edge technology to raise product quality or sell it to other corporations.
  • Farming - grow crops or raise livestock.

Framework development / 2D dynamic lighting
« on: November 18, 2013, 06:52:27 am »
Hi,

recently I stumbled upon this kickstarter project, and its 2D lighting engine looks quite impressive. I was wondering if something similar is possible in FIFE. Did someone tried to do something like it?

Game creators corner / CeGUI demos
« on: March 01, 2013, 05:24:25 am »
Hi,
recently I was playing around with gui_enhacement branch and CeGUI, and as a warm up I implemented Cegui game console tutorial into cegui_demo and CeGUI into shooter demo. Maybe someone will find this useful.

Game creators corner / Loading dynamically generated images into Fife
« on: December 19, 2012, 06:59:44 am »
Hi, I have been playing with Fife for some time and generally everything is running smoothly but recently I came across a problem with feature that I need for my project. I'm generating dynamically charts with pyCairo which later I want to use in Fife. From pycairo I can get a Python buffer object with the image data in given format (e.g. ARGB32) which then I could use in Fife, but from what I've seen in fife code there is no function which can load whole image at once. I've tried to use files to load those images but this solution is to slow. Also I've tried to load those images pixel by pixel but this is also to slow (game freezes for a second or two at loading point ).

So here is my question.

Is there a way to load those images into fife in efficient way? If not how hard will it be to implement this feature into fife engine?

Thanks,
Sejten
