As far as I know, I did all that. I tried running update_project_files.bat  again, but no result.

I did read and follow  http://wiki.fifengine.net/Building:Win32:VisualStudio

The files I downloaded were:

FIFE_2008.1_r2512_win32.exe
FIFE_2009.0-r1_win32_SDK.7z

Were these the right/current versions?

As far as I can tell, there is no way the project can build, since the vcproj file does not seem to be present.

General discussion / Releasing commercial games

Can you release commercial games in this engine without releasing their source code publicly? I've been looking round the FIFE info, but things seem contradictory.

Hope you can clear this up for me,

Help and troubleshooting / Building on VS Express 2005

I'm looking in the \trunk\build\win32\build_environments\visual_studio_8 folder. I open the fife_engine.sln file in VS Express 2005, but it gives me the error
"The project file is either missing from disk or access was denied",

and sure enough there is no vcproj in the folder.

There is a fife.vcproj.user, so I gave it a try and renamed it to fife.vcproj

Now when I open it in VS, I get

"The element 'VisualStudioUserFile' is used but not declared in the DTD/Schema."

What's up here? How do I get FIFE to build  on VS Express 2005?

Thanks in advance

I'm interested in making isometric RPGs. This engine development team looks pretty active, so I'm going to give it a try
